This is an off-site workshop. Transportation to the workshop location from VCUQ and back will be provided and is part of the experience.
The bicycle has long been a platform for experimentation and innovation — like F1 cars and racing yachts, modern bicycle frames and their components are crafted from carbon fiber for optimal weight, performance, and aerodynamics. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll use the bicycle as a platform to explore the potential of accessible digital fabrication tools in modern composite construction. Together, we’ll mold, shape and join raw carbon fiber into a lightweight, performant bicycle frame while discussing broader composites applications in the fields of art, engineering, design and architecture.
Topics include: Carbon Fiber Composites, Digital Fab
This workshop is a repetition of the workshop from March 3, 2023, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM.
