One-day in-person workshop led by Faysal Tabbarah
- March 4, 2024, 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- Location: Room 286, VCUarts Qatar
- Upon Registration Only
This workshop introduces participants to methods of framing and writing curatorial statements.
Specifically, the curatorial statements will be built around narratives that describe the projects and ask key questions that identify the scope and value of each project, as well as how its research will be conducted and eventually displayed.
Throughout the workshop, the participants will be introduced to methods of archival research that can be used as a component of a wider and broader curatorial practice. The archival research component will primarily focus on the Qatar Digital Library (QDL) collection and will branch out from there organically. The outcome of the workshop will be a short text describing the scope and value of the participant’s project, a curated series of archival findings, and sketches around how these findings will be displayed.
Participants need to come into the workshop with their own prompts, object of interest or curiosity that focus on the QDL collection (these will also be workshopped at the beginning). Participants need to have a laptop/personal computer to be able to conduct the workshop.
This workshop is a repetition of the workshop from March 3, 2023, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM.
