This is an off-site workshop. Transportation to the workshop location from VCUarts Qatar and back will be provided and is part of the experience.
This is a two-day workshop, and participants are expected to attend both days.
The idea that design is always evolving highlights its dynamic and ever-changing nature, emphasizing an ongoing journey of improvement and innovation instead of a fixed endpoint. Designers continuously refine their creations, adapting to user needs, technological advancements, and emerging trends. This concept encourages a forward-thinking mindset, urging designers to embrace feedback, stay adaptable, and anticipate future shifts to create solutions that remain relevant and impactful over time.
The aim of this workshop is to nurture a deep appreciation for the dynamic essence of design, promoting a mindset of continuous iteration. The focus will be on ongoing improvement, encouraging participants to think proactively about future design trends. Additionally, the workshop will foster collaborative problem-solving and peer feedback within design teams, creating a culture that values teamwork and collective innovation in the ever-evolving field of design.
Participants need to have a laptop/personal computer to be able to conduct the workshop.
The workshop is scheduled over two days with the proposed agenda:
- Day 1: The Dynamic Nature of Design
- Exploration of evolutionary design thinking.
- Discussion on adaptability in design.
- Interactive design evolution exercise.
- Reflection on the challenges and benefits of constant design evolution.
Homework Assignment:
- Research and bring examples of designs that have evolved over time for discussion in Session 2.
- Day 2: Navigating the Design Continuum
- Exploration of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Analysis of case studies showcasing successful design evolution.
- Discussion on designing for future trends.
- Interactive activity: Sketching future-ready designs.
